What is the difference between a diamond and a brilliant?

Diamond is the generic name of the mineral and brilliant is a cut of the diamond.

What are the criteria for valuing a diamond?

The characteristics that determine the value and quality of a diamond are Color, Clarity, Carat, Cut and Certificate, which are the so-called 5 “Cs”

Color : Within the colorless series, diamonds can range from white to slightly yellow. There are several scales, the most well-known being GIA, which ranges from D (exceptional white) to Z (pale yellow). The less color a diamond has, the higher its value.
Clarity : This is the assessment of the inclusions (internal and external imperfections of the diamond) in terms of their number, size, colour and location within the stone. The highest quality grade is called Flawless or Pure under 10x magnification.
Cut : It is a determining factor of the diamond's brilliance; depending on the type of cut, the proportions and the finish are fundamental.
Weight : The carat is the precision unit used to weigh diamonds. One carat is equal to 0.20 grams.
Certification : It is very important that the four value characteristics mentioned above are established by a serious and impartial official certification laboratory, since any variation in the quality grades can lead to significant changes in their value.

What is gold plating and how long can it last?

A gold, silver or rhodium plating is a surface treatment applied to a piece to change or improve its color.

18 carat gold is used for gold plating. To obtain a white or silver tone, silver or rhodium is used. The plating is not a permanent treatment, so it tends to disappear depending on the use and wear of the piece.

It is also important to take into account the thickness of the applied coating, since depending on the micron thickness, its durability will be greater or lesser.

Do you accept returns and for how long from the date of purchase?

The return period for our items is one month. The amount will be refunded using the same payment method used for the purchase.

Why does white gold lose color and turn yellow over time?

Gold is naturally yellow, and being 18 carats, the proportion of yellow metal is very high (¾ parts). The alloy part for obtaining white gold contains more silver than the alloy for yellow gold pieces. Finally, the white gold piece will be rhodium plated to make it look like platinum. This plating, being superficial, can, and is normal for it to disappear with use and friction, and consequently the piece will turn yellow.

Will silver pieces turn black?

Most Yanes Young silver pieces have a rhodium finish that prevents them from turning dark or black. But if this happens, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to assist you and treat your pieces.
