CLAUDIO YANES 1806-1876

Seventy years of Claudio's life - First generation of the Yanes family

He was born in 1806 in San Martín de Puxa and had an exemplary education with his parents. At the age of 25 he was already a teacher and giving classes in the town of Malpica de Tajo, he met and married María de Mata.

In 1837 he volunteered for the Carlist war and his heroism was highlighted in the national press.

His wife dies and he remarries Petra Fernández, a young woman with whom he has six children.

The discovery of the Guarrazar Treasure in Guadamur was a milestone in Toledo. Claudio Yanes, with his designs of Visigothic origin, in his later years told Petra and his children: “Open a jewellery shop in the capital.”

1895

Esteban Yanes I joins the business with his father

The firm experienced moments of splendor when in 1906 and on the occasion of the
wedding of King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia, takes place
numerous commissions for such a social event.

These works give him prestige and popularity that places him among the most sought-after jewelers of today.

His friendly and charismatic character reaches out to a Madrid clientele that calls upon him for personalized attention.

Esteban begins to create a style of jewelry that leaves its mark and patent of art and personality.

Esteban Yanes joined the family business at the age of 14 and, although he follows the traditional canons and philosophy of his father and grandfather, he begins to dare to try new trends.

Yellow gold appears mixed with silver, and rose gold begins to establish itself as a new and attractive fashion trend. Without neglecting the beautiful and delicate platinum and diamond pieces, so characteristic of the brand, it dares to use filigree and openwork, which give rise to the “Alhambra” collection, which today has evolved to become one of the best-selling collections of the last 20 years.

1970

Jesus and Manuela Yanes

Among the important expansion and growth projects, the figure of women appears in the Yanes company.

It is Manuela who brings a new vision and version of jewelry
modern. A feminine and current style full of sophistication, glamour and
exclusiveness.

Together they open their first establishment in the Salamanca district of Madrid.

A splendid 700-square-metre establishment that was renovated and became a jewellery store that was a benchmark for Spanish society at the time.

Apart from the thousands of pieces created exclusively for the clientele
most demanding, they design one of the most emblematic jewels of the firm: The
diamond tiara "Nine Roses" with the wish that it be worn by the
brides of the Yanes family, on their wedding day.

In recognition of their prestige and quality of work, they are
grants the commission for the reproduction of the most important pieces of
the Silver Collection of the Royal Palace of Madrid (National Heritage of
said Museum).

1980
